The TNT is almost ready for a sea trail.  Cameron and I will install the skid fin.  Next, we will either borrow an 8 hp motor or rent a 15 hp motor ($40/day).  After, the sea trail data is analyzed, based on weight and performance, we will decide on a 9.8 hp or 18 hp motor.  Turns out that Tohatsu builds an 18hp identical to the 15hp motor, but ships it with electric start, short shaft and remote throttle and gear shift.

As you can see, the pictures show the TNT on the new trailer and ready to paint.  She got 2 coats of epoxy water barrier and then a hard epoxy anti fouling paint.  The top coat was 3 coats of epoxy barrier coat and then 3 coats of linear urethethane.  After she is completely outfitted, we will sand and apply  final coat.

Lots of epoxy and sanding!  Note that the date on the picture is wrong it was taken in 2003.

Last week we adjusted the trailer to fit the boat.  We added the cleats, bow and stern eyes, lights, and our 5 hp motor from the our dinghy.  The motor is just on for size we probably will not run the boat with it.  We have an 8 hp lined up for sea trial.  The 8hp and 9.8hp weight 80 lbs just like a 2 stroke 15 hp.  The 4 stroke 15 hp weighs 120 lbs, hence the sea trail.

Cameron is just holding the steering wheel.  We needed to exchange the steering system we a lighter duty unit and an 10 foot cable.  So far the measurements from a Tohatsu 15hp are a perfect fit.

You can see we selected the fenders and lines.  We needed the fenders to install the cleats.  Notice we use separate cleats for the fenders and lines.  Leslie demanded stainless steel yacht cleats.  I felt we needed something to tie the boat with during sea trial.

The transom protector was fabricated from 0.25 inch 5052 aluminum.  I sent it out for welding.  Here it is jigged for welding.

The transom protector is installed.  The skid fin is painted ready for installation.  Bilge pump is installed and so it the battery box.

The upper dash has been cut for the helm.  We changed the steering system for 10 foot model.  The dash switches are visible and ready to be installed in the lower dash.  The object in front of the gas filler is the horn.  Also, notice the riser (gray) under the gas cap, this will be painted white.

When we are finished, our "Naughty Boys" TNT will have electric start, running lights, horn, bilge pump, fuel gauge, speedometer, tachometer, bottom plotter and GPS chart plotter!  And, yes we have a thought about an electronics arch too!
